Why Slow and Steady Wins the Race in Social Media

A lot of the times, new business pop up and their owners are so excited about this new venture that they think they need to see quick growth on social media. This mindset may lead them to make some rash decisions such as buying followers or spending too much on ads. And it may look impressive to investors to have gained over 1,000 followers in under a month, but savvy investors know there's more to it than that. And the day-to-day consumer probably won't even pay attention.

Let's get this out of the way right at the front: Do not buy followers. No one knows for sure, but it's estimated that about 15% of social media accounts are bots. That's 15% of about 3 billion. So, if you had every bot on Twitter following you, it would bring your follower count up to about 450 million. Sounds impressive, right? It does right up until you realize that bots aren't buying your products or telling any real people about you. You could make the case that the high number of foll…

What's new

Alright, so this month has been unwittingly busy. I don't know wether I've had a bunch of stuff piled on me or if I have only just recently begun to realize all the stuff that has already been piled on me. Voice recording for Episode Seven of Far Street will take place this coming Sunday. That's right, with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus comes the resurrection of Far Street. . . . although it hasn't really been dead per se . . . ::shrug:: whatever. Look forward to a new episode within the next week or so.

In other news, I was hit on by a 35-year-old business woman. Her face when she realized my age was priceless. (22, if you don't know.)

I'm also in the middle of reworking a movie that a classmate of mine from Full Sail wrote and directed. I'm editing it and have asked Becky to do the musical score. It's liberally laced with the most colorful of language, however, so I don't know wether or not I'll put a cleaned up version on my website. (I have to ask my classmate first, anyway.) But I'd really love to show off Becky's scoring abilities. I'm very proud of what she's done so far. We'll see.

Miguel and I are also doing a completely different movie. This one is Chritian themed and I'm writing it and he's directing. It's just very tough to get the college & career class to cooperate with shooting. So far we've tried twice to start shooting and each time something has gone wrong. We should start the third try any week now.

Wow! There is alot going on. And besides all this I'm looking into getting a new job at my church. This job would free up much more of my time to work on movie stuff for my viewing audience's pleasure. That's right. I only think of you.

Well, everyone have a fun day. I have to get to work.
