Why Slow and Steady Wins the Race in Social Media

A lot of the times, new business pop up and their owners are so excited about this new venture that they think they need to see quick growth on social media. This mindset may lead them to make some rash decisions such as buying followers or spending too much on ads. And it may look impressive to investors to have gained over 1,000 followers in under a month, but savvy investors know there's more to it than that. And the day-to-day consumer probably won't even pay attention.

Let's get this out of the way right at the front: Do not buy followers. No one knows for sure, but it's estimated that about 15% of social media accounts are bots. That's 15% of about 3 billion. So, if you had every bot on Twitter following you, it would bring your follower count up to about 450 million. Sounds impressive, right? It does right up until you realize that bots aren't buying your products or telling any real people about you. You could make the case that the high number of foll…

Sanctuary: Eulogy

If you didn't see last week's episode, then Eulogy will completely spoil the surprise. But while they do a nice job of wrapping up that story line with a pretty bow... the bow is just begging to be untied. While Magnus is dealing with a terrible loss, the rest of the team gets busy bringing in a large cache of new abnormals. And, of course... one of them escapes.

I'm still not sure about this Kate Freelander character. In this episode she's pretty much being set up as a replacement character. Which is odd considering SG-1, Amanda Tapping's previous employment, proved that you don't need to replace people whenever someone leaves. Kate seems thrown in as a quirky, hot fanboy pacifier which would normally be pretty cool if the actor played the part well. I don't know; I'm just not convinced yet.

Other than her, the series seems to be moving on rather well. I was unsure about the first season, but now that a major plot-line has reared its head I'm actually enjoying following along. Last week's disastrous episode is followed up pretty nicely by the events in this episode, with a couple of exceptions. Before going into spoilers I'll just say that this episode is at least better than the first season. The series as a whole still has some proving to do for me.
