Why Slow and Steady Wins the Race in Social Media

A lot of the times, new business pop up and their owners are so excited about this new venture that they think they need to see quick growth on social media. This mindset may lead them to make some rash decisions such as buying followers or spending too much on ads. And it may look impressive to investors to have gained over 1,000 followers in under a month, but savvy investors know there's more to it than that. And the day-to-day consumer probably won't even pay attention.

Let's get this out of the way right at the front: Do not buy followers. No one knows for sure, but it's estimated that about 15% of social media accounts are bots. That's 15% of about 3 billion. So, if you had every bot on Twitter following you, it would bring your follower count up to about 450 million. Sounds impressive, right? It does right up until you realize that bots aren't buying your products or telling any real people about you. You could make the case that the high number of foll…

Visiting the Space Port

So, yesterday I went to Citrus Park mall to check out the Star Tours 3D preview event they had going on and it was pretty awesome! They set up a little hub designed to look like a space port where you could take pics and brag to your friends that you were chillin' with C-3P0 and R2-D2. Yeah, they were totally there. And I totally shook Threepio's hand. And it was every bit as weak and limp as you might think it would be. Weak and limp and glorious.

If you've ever been to Disney World Hollywood Studios, you're probably aware of the Star Tours ride they've had for quite a while. If you're up on the Disney news, then you know they stopped that ride a while ago to build a brand new, state-of-the-art Star Tours 3D ride. That will be opening May 20th, and after this event, I couldn't be more excited! Check out my pics...

This was the scene as I walked up to the event. People gathered around and generally making merry.

This lady talked for a while about all the awesome new places Star Tours is going...

And then these two gangstas showed up. Really, when was the last time you were walking through a mall and spotted a droid that wasn't picking up a cell signal? My Droid X was jealous.

A few kids and families arrived and got their pics taken with the universe's awesomest droids. I liked this family the most because of the little red-head padawan up front.

And then it was my turn! Big thanks to the Star Tours attendant for taking some pics with my phone and not stealing it!

Threepio gave me a bit of a run-down on all the new, fantastic places that Star Tours is going. He also asked if I did a lot of space traveling. I said "not much, really." When I told him I was from New Port Richey, he said he was unfamiliar with that system. I really should have said the Sol System.

And then around the corner there seemed to be a rodent problem.

LOL jk... Jedi Master Mickey gave me a little Force Push to show me who's boss. This dude can make mops dance and water rise up a mountain. You don't even know how strong the Force is in him!

Princess Minnie showed up a while later to relieve her bf.

Charming as ever, Princess.

So, if you find yourself with the ability and inclination to head over to Disney World some time, be sure to visit the space port at Hollywood Studios and take a tour of a galaxy far, far away! I know I'll never forget my time on Hoth...
