Why Slow and Steady Wins the Race in Social Media

A lot of the times, new business pop up and their owners are so excited about this new venture that they think they need to see quick growth on social media. This mindset may lead them to make some rash decisions such as buying followers or spending too much on ads. And it may look impressive to investors to have gained over 1,000 followers in under a month, but savvy investors know there's more to it than that. And the day-to-day consumer probably won't even pay attention.

Let's get this out of the way right at the front: Do not buy followers. No one knows for sure, but it's estimated that about 15% of social media accounts are bots. That's 15% of about 3 billion. So, if you had every bot on Twitter following you, it would bring your follower count up to about 450 million. Sounds impressive, right? It does right up until you realize that bots aren't buying your products or telling any real people about you. You could make the case that the high number of foll…

Glee-bits

The hiatus is only a week old and I'm already having withdrawals.

The Tumblr and Twitter fandom keep me more than well informed on what's going on with our famous cast members so let me just fill you in on a few details so you're up to speed.

Beware, there are some spoilers that I am catching wind of so don't read if you don't want to know!

Glee Live! tour well under way

The cast of Glee performed in Vegas and in CA already and are actually in Minneapolis tonight.

In case Glee isn't coming to your city (like unfortunately, it's not coming to mine *creys*), know that there will be a movie in select theaters on August 12th choronicling the tour and it's going to be in 3D!
Also, be advised that Darren Criss has become a HUGE part of the tour, performing with some of The Warblers and also performing in a lot of numbers with New Directions.
There is an adorable skit featuring Brittany (Heather Morris), Blaine (Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) that has the end result of Blaine joining Glee club for the tour.
For the skit and some pretty quality videos of some of the best tour songs just search for Glee Live 2011 on Youtube.

Naya Rivera is goin' solo

First our favorite Latina Lebanese hosted the GLAAD Media Awards (an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding representations of the LGBT community in the media and GLAAD's vital work to achieve full equality) and then we hear that she's going to be putting out her own solo album with Columbia Records and will begin recording as soon as the Glee tour is finished.

I, personally, am looking forward to this because I love Santana's sultry vocals and was really happy that she got to sing a lot more in Season 2.

Hopefully, this paves a way for more solos for Naya and maybe more albums from more of our favorite cast members.

Magazine watch

Be sure to keep an eye out because there are a lot of magazines featuring interviews and photo shoots from our Gleeks.

Darren Criss is going to be in GQ soon, (I'm sure you all have seen the Billboard by now!) Heather Morris was on the Women's Health cover and most of the cast was just on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter just to name a few.

See you next week, Gleeks!
